Join Us for Founder’s Day / Day of Giving Tomorrow
(May 7) and Honor Riverside’s Heritage
TOMORROW, FRIDAY, MAY 7 WE WILL HONOR AN EXCITING Riverside School tradition, Founder’s Day, and you are invited to join the festivities via a ‘virtual’ platform.
There will be a number of special activities taking place, but the highlight of the day will be a special celebration of Riverside founder Pat DeOrio’s 85th birthday. As anyone with a touchpoint to the school knows, there is no one quite like ‘Mrs. D.,’ and she will undoubtedly have some great insights to share and fun stories to tell, so please plan to tune in!
Additionally, Founder’s Day provides an opportunity to contribute to Riverside’s Annual Fund—and provide the resources necessary to ensure a bright future for the school and its students. This support has become increasingly important during the challenges Covid has presented all of us in a changing world.
Please note: We have a $5,000 match for Founder’s Day, so any gift made between now and the end of Friday counts toward earning that $5,000 match.
Thank You for Celebrating Those
Who Make Riverside Great!
DURING THIS WEEK’S RIVERSIDE ‘TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK,’ we’re celebrating the teachers, instructors and staff that help make our school great. The week has included an amazing array of gifts and mementos for our team to choose from and enjoy.
We’re also having fun with ‘Silly Staff Week.’ A fantastic lineup of teachers and staff are taking part in various ‘theme days’ to help
fund Student Council projects and charitable donations.

Checking In In from the Library
BAD KITTY BOOKS? Chesterfield County Public Library is sponsoring a free virtual event with Bad Kitty author, Nick Bruel, on Thursday, May 20 from 7-8 p.m.
TOMORROW IS FOUNDER’S DAY AT RIVERSIDE, and this year that means Riverside founder Pat DeOrio will be here to Zoom with students and alumni, we’ll be eating tacos (some more than others), and hopefully we’ll be meeting a few goals for our Annual Fund.
We are halfway to our goal of 100 percent Parent Participation in Annual Fund giving, which would earn a $5,000 challenge grant. Also $5,000 in gifts will be matched just for Founder’s Day. Finally, we
have another $5,000 challenge grant if we can reach 35 alumni donors. If we earned all three $5,000 challenges, that would give us a great chance at surpassing our total Annual Fund goal of $215,000 for the year.
Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions about Founder’s Day, our challenges, or Annual Fund giving at Riverside. Thanks very much for a great Teacher Appreciation Week!

the Head of School
YOU MAY HAVE HEARD ME SAY THIS BEFORE, but it is very worth repeating on ‘Teacher Appreciation Week:’ I have never had the honor of serving a more professional, well-trained, and caring faculty and staff than the one here at Riverside.
And after this year of pandemic, I am adding ‘courageous’ to the list of our faculty’s virtues.
I am truly proud to say that I work at Riverside alongside of you. Thank you, Riverside faculty and staff!
