Special Parent Opportunity

Do you know which of these is a myth?

• – Letter reversals are a big red flag for dyslexia
• – Dyslexia can be caused by problems with visual perception
• – We don’t yet really know exactly how dyslexia affects the brain
• – Kids with dyslexia read backwards

All of these are myths!  Come find out the TRUTH at our Subscriber Session II: ‘Dyslexia Details.’

Please click here to register.

Please note: Sessions will be conducted remotely using the ‘Zoom’ platform. Login information will be sent in advance of each session.

Development Update

WHILE WE ARE SAD TO MISS OUR NORMAL IN-PERSON FESTIVITIES for Grandparents and Special Friends Day on Nov. 24, the virtual replacement will still offer our special guests a glimpse into Riverside.

Each class’ 30-minute Zoom session will feature a musical performance, a quick message from an alumnus, a special presentation by the students, and some Q&A time with Mr. Waller.

I hope the virtual program will allow for our best turnout ever, especially from guests living far away who couldn’t attend an in-person event.

THIS AFTERNOON I AM SENDING OUR PARENT COMMUNITY a survey about our recent period of remote learning. The first two questions are written so that they correlate to a similar survey we sent out last March, allowing us to benchmark responses. The final question is open-ended, and I hope many of you will use it to share some of the thoughts that have been shared with me either verbally in Zoom parent meetings or written to me in emails.

I know that there are many strong opinions in our community about how Riverside should respond to possible future cases of Covid in our on-campus community, and it is important that parents have opportunities to share those opinions.

On the topic of opinions, thank you to everyone who attended our Zoom parent Coffee today at noon. We have scheduled approximately two parent coffees each month through the rest of the school year, and it is great to ‘see’ so many of you, even though it is through a computer screen. I look forward to the day when we will be able to hold events like this in person again.

— Hal Waller
