Do you know which of these is a myth?

• – Letter reversals are a big red flag for dyslexia
• – Dyslexia can be caused by problems with visual perception
• – We don’t yet really know exactly how dyslexia affects the brain
• – Kids with dyslexia read backwards

All of these are myths!  Come find out the TRUTH at our Subscriber Session II: ‘Dyslexia Details.’

Please note: Sessions will be conducted remotely using the ‘Zoom’ platform. Login information will be sent in advance of each session.

Development Update

but thanks are in the air this week due to Riverside’s Fall Thankathon. Maybe
you have received a call thanking you for a past Annual Fund donation. Maybe you are one of our volunteer callers doing the thanking. Either way, I’d like to add my thanks to all of you for everything you do to support Riverside.

— Leo Rohr
Director of Development

p.s. If you haven’t already heard from me about confirming contact info for our upcoming ‘Grandparents and Special Friends Day’ on Nov. 24, you will soon, so thanks for that as well!

from the desk of…
the Head of School

I AM HAPPY TO SHARE THAT OUR ON-CAMPUS COMMUNITY MEMBER who contracted Covid is now doing MUCH better. Thank you, everyone who expressed concern and shared prayers.

I am also happy to share that there have been no additional cases of Covid identified among any other Riverside on-campus community members.

We are on target for the entire school community to return to campus this coming Wednesday, Nov. 4, as planned, to resume in-person learning.

To clarify, the decision to move to remote learning for the 14-day period was the school’s decision—it was not imposed upon us by health authorities. If/when we have another Covid case, we will evaluate the circumstances and act accordingly. Options may include moving a smaller cohort of the community into remote learning, and/or going remote for a shorter period of time.

Thank you all for your patience and support since last Wednesday. Although I am extremely proud of the amazing job our teachers and students have done in this period of remote learning, please know that Riverside remains committed to the idea that in-person learning is how our students learn best.

— Hal Waller
