In October, November, January, and February, we’ll offer four different two-hour sessions of official AOGPE curriculum. Together, the eight hours of sessions cover the entire Subscriber level curriculum. Attendance at all four sessions will qualify you to hold Subscriber Membership with the Academy
The Subscriber Sessions will be led by Cynthia Davis, a Fellow with the Academy. The sessions are being offered and advertised to area professionals; however they are FREE for Riverside parents.

THANK YOU TO SUZIE EKLUND, Director of Language Fundamentals, for an excellent presentation at our Parents’ Association Meeting yesterday. Meeting Minutes will be available in next week’s announcements.

There is a two-night stay at The Hunt Box at Lowelands Farms with wine tasting at Barrel Oak Winery, and special art projects created by our children and Mrs. Lantz.

Please e-mail Brittany Cooper at: firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions or would like to volunteer.

Have a Parents’ Association-related question, inquiry or suggestion?
HARVEST MOON IS CERTAINLY A TOP EVENT on the Riverside social calendar, but it is also an important fundraiser for the school. Each year, the school and the Parents’ Association agree on a specific project for which to raise funds at the auction. Last year, we focused on refurbishments for the Ruth Harris Library and the administrative suite.
This year, the project is a sprucing-up of the gazebo and deck area. If you have been to the school recently, you probably noticed that this heavily trafficked thoroughfare needs some TLC. You can help make that happen!
From what I’ve heard through the grapevine and seen in the rising mountain of donations in Mr. Waller’s office, we are going to have some great auction items up for grabs. Thanks so much to the item donors and the volunteer organizers working really hard to make Harvest Moon a success!
I look forward to seeing you on October 19 for a fantastic evening.

the Head of School
YESTERDAY, AT THE PARENTS’ ASSOCIATION MEETING, Suzie Eklund, Director of Language Fundamentals, gave a wonderful presentation on what happens during LF class. I am continually amazed at the amount of planning and expertise that go into each of our students’ lessons.
LF teachers follow the Orton-Gillingham Approach, but within that approach they are continually diagnostic and prescriptive, which is one of the reasons that they are so effective.
Things are gearing up here at Riverside for the upcoming Harvest Moon Social—one of the clearest signs to me is the amount of items that are being stored in my office. I hope that all parents will be able to join us for the event on Friday, October 19.
