Founder’s Day

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 2025 edition of Founder’s Day, which featured a catered picnic, field games and inflatables, tours of the expanded campus, and a celebration of Mrs. DeOrio’s birthday and 50 years of Riverside! We had a great turnout of current families, alumni families, and friends. Fantastic catering was provided by Riverside family-owned Neighbor, with dessert from Deluca’s Gelato. Supporting Riverside

Founder’s Day is also a day to support Riverside’s Annual Fund and ensure that the school is able to continue to provide the standard of excellence in education for students with dyslexia and similar language-based learning differences. Gifts made to the Annual Fund for Founder’s Day support increased financial aid, school technology, classroom materials, teacher training, and more.

About Founder’s Day

Founder’s Day is a time to honor Riverside’s rich history, celebrate its present, and plan for its future. It is the traditional day that Riverside founder Pat DeOrio comes back to the school to talk to the current students and give them a glimpse into the history of this important institution. The students always love to hear from ‘Mrs. D’ and they pepper her with enough questions to fill an afternoon. The day also features a fun afterschool gathering for current families and alumni.
