ENDOWMENT FUNDS

Riverside School’s endowment funds provide additional and permanent annual resources to maintain and improve the quality of education at the school. Endowment monies are professionally invested and these investments are monitored by Riverside’s Board of Trustees through its Finance Committee.

A named, unrestricted endowment fund can be created at the $25,000 level. A named, restricted endowment fund can be created at the $50,000 level. Please contact Riverside School’s Director of Development if you are interested in creating a new endowment fund or contributing to an existing endowment fund.

Riverside School currently has eight, separate endowment funds and all are open to additional donations.

General Endowment Fund

The General Endowment Fund was established to support Riverside School’s general operating budget. These funds are to be used at the discretion of the Riverside School Board of Trustees.

Brierre Memorial Scholarship

The Brierre Memorial Fund was established to provide need-based scholarships for dyslexic students to use to attend Riverside School. It was established in the memory of Cary and Chip Brierre. The Brierre Memorial Scholarship is given each spring to a returning Riverside student.

Margaret M. and Thomas L. Disharoon Scholarship Endowment

This endowment fund was created in memory of Riverside volunteers Margie and Tom Disharoon to create a scholarship, or scholarships, for Riverside students demonstrating financial need.

Ruth Harris Scholarship Fund Endowment

The Ruth Harris Scholarship Endowment Fund was established by gift agreement in August 2013 to be used to defray the cost of tuition for a student or students who have been enrolled in the school for at least one year and have demonstrated good progress, but who are in financial need in order to continue.

Ruth Harris Faculty Enrichment Fund Endowment

The fund shall be used specifically to help support professional development like attendance at conferences and professional resources like books and online subscriptions which teachers use to gain knowledge.

G. Douglas Hayden, M.D. Endowment

This endowment fund was created in memory of Dr. Hayden by his daughter. It supports the school’s general operations.

Millhiser Family Scholarship Endowment

This endowment fund was created by the Millhiser Family to support a scholarship or scholarships for families in need.

Matthew A. Stone Scholarship Endowment

This endowment fund was created in memory of Riverside alumnus Matt Stone '12 by his family.

Carolyn Wiltshire Webb Endowment

This endowment fund was created in memory of Riverside teacher Carolyn Webb by her husband. It supports the school’s general operations.
