Music Notes

I’M SO EXCITED TO BE SHARING my harpsichord with Riverside students this week. It is a replica of a 17th century Italian harpsichord and belonged to my uncle. We have discussed all the families of the orchestra throughout the school year and are doing an end of year review.

I’m still working on the recording for ‘Lean on Me.’ Please keep an eye on your e-mail for the recording and instructions regarding
how to participate.

Thank you for encouraging your children to grow musically!

Development Update

WHILE I AM VERY EXCITED ABOUT FIELD DAY tomorrow, I’d like to jump ahead one week and give you all an update about Founder’s Day.

We are looking forward to celebrating Riverside Founder Pat DeOrio’s (pictured right) 84th birthday by having her join us for two different Zoom conferences, one with current students at 11 a.m., and one with the greater Riverside community at
2 p.m. We are also looking forward to celebrating Riverside’s amazing volunteers with a ‘virtual’ coffee gathering at
8:30 a.m. You can get all the info here: https://riversideschool. org/support/founders-day/.

Lastly, we are aware that this is an incredibly difficult time in many respects, including economically. For that reason, fundraising is as important as ever for Riverside to continue operating at the level we have all come to expect. We have challenge grants in place for parent participation and alumni participation, so if you are able to make a gift (of any size), Founder’s Day is a great time to do that.

Thanks, and I hope you and your families are doing well and staying safe.

Director of Development

from the desk of…
the Head of School

I AM KEEPING TODAY’S MESSAGE SHORT while I am busy working with Coach Childress and Leo Rohr on final touches for tomorrow’s Field Day. I do want to publicly recognize their hard work with this project, as well as the work of Debra Mitchell, our Parents’ Association, and all of the classroom teachers.

And thank you, parents, for the important role you will be playing in helping your children with the Competition Events. This will definitely be a Field Day like no other, but I hope that what will be similar to past Field Days is the fun and excitement it generates in our community.
